Kaz Grala Scores Podium Finish for Fire Dept. Coffee in NASCAR’s Historic San Diego Street Race

Kaz Grala delivered a strong performance in his first start with Halmar-Friesen Racing, driving the No. 62 Fire Dept. Coffee Toyota Tundra TRD Pro to a third-place finish in NASCAR’s inaugural San Diego Street Course event at Naval Base Coronado.

The weekend marked NASCAR’s first-ever race on the new 3.4-mile street circuit and quickly proved to be one of the most challenging and unpredictable events of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. With concrete barriers lining the course and multiple cautions throughout the race, track position, patience and execution were critical factors in determining the outcome.

Grala and the No. 62 team steadily worked their way forward throughout the 50-lap event, avoiding the incidents and pitfalls that caught many competitors. As the race evolved into a late-race battle among the frontrunners, Grala remained in contention and capitalized on the opportunity, securing a podium finish for Fire Dept. Coffee and Halmar-Friesen Racing.

The result continues the momentum of the No. 62 program while providing Fire Dept. Coffee with valuable exposure during one of the most anticipated races on the NASCAR schedule. The San Diego Street Course attracted significant attention as a new venue and showcased the Fire Dept. Coffee brand in front of a national television audience.

Grala’s clean and disciplined drive on the demanding street circuit highlighted the strength of the Halmar-Friesen Racing organization and delivered a memorable result in a landmark event for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
